Release

re.lease:  to set free; to liberate
source: The American Century Dictionary

It's my "word" for 2015.

So what am I releasing or going to work on releasing:
  •  being a people pleaser.
  •  crazy expectations
  •  control, anger and anxiety
  •  physical stuff both what's within my body and what's around me environmentally

Release is letting go and not wanting it back.  I want freedom from the chains that have enslaved me a lot longer than I care to think about.

It's so easy to get swept away into the abyss of perfection in the present digital age we live in.  All I have to do is sign into Pinterest or Facebook or read one of the blogs that I follow and I am transported to picture perfect life.  But you know what...it's really not like that because behind every great picture is 75 more that are out of focus, have a thumb in the view finder or show the mess of creating that perfect image peaking from the lower left hand corner.

Being wondrously flawed is being aware of the fact I am flawed.  I don't have crazy mad tech skills or a tricked out Nikon camera or a degree in English.  My demographic is white, married, moderate, Christian,  middle aged morbidly obese mother of an 8 yr old daughter and wife to a disabled Vet.

I am also so much more than that demographic starting with the absolute truth that I forgiven and a child of God.   Hallelujah!

So what can you expect if you follow along?  Me, in all my glorious and not so glorious messiness-  just Jenni being Jenni.  I may have posts that have run on sentences or the margins don't line up. I might have swear words in my posts. <gasp>  I might not post every day or every week.  There may not be beautiful images included in every blog post-it's mine so I can do as little or as much as I want.  See, already releasing myself from an expectation.

I have this gloriously luxuriant stretch of a 4 day holiday weekend laid out in front of me...oh the possibilities.....

I think I am going to click "publish" and set up my new Fitbit I got for Christmas, learn about growing a winter garden of kale and begin reading a new book.

What are you releasing this year?  What are your plans for the holiday weekend?

Today's Activities

It's a beautiful day in Gilbert AZ today.

Yesterday was rainy with a coldness that just chilled to the bone.  That's very odd for this area.  It snowed down to the elevation of about 2000 feet so we were treated with a view of the Superstition Mountains frosted with snow.

My daughter had her first Girl Scout Cookie Booth yesterday afternoon during all this and it was a tad miserable to be out in it.  She has a talent for sales, she was thrilled to approach everyone that was entering  or exiting the Safeway to buy a box of Thin Mints or Samoas-her personal fav's.

Today's agenda is well underway, I've done my volunteer work for today up @ my daughter's school.  It was expecially needed as they had a substitute, Mrs Procter, a very lovely veteran teacher.

I've done a little work on updating my profile on Google to advance my "author rate" if and when I ever get some page views-this will come I am sure.  I had to log into my Twitter acct, hadn't done that for over a year.  I need to be more consistent about my postings.   Hmmm, that's a word that needs to define my year according to a blog I received today.  Here's her link:  http://clairediazortiz.com/ great article!  So that will be my word.....CONSISTENT

So, this ends today's post as the "Bear" is ready when I am so we can go off and get our provisions from Costco.  It's always a challenge to stay on task with the list of "needs" and stay away from the great deals of "wants"

Hi and welcome to the inaugural post of my new blog!

I'm Jenni, a wondrously flawed child of God or as some have probably said under their breath, a real piece of work.  Either way....I'll own it.  I wanted this to be something that is genuine, life is just too short to be something you aren't.  I also couldn't come up with something super cute and clever to name the blog, things like "Never-ending Loads of Laundry & Dishes" didn't seem very fun to read or write about.
I have wanted to have a blog for a long time and it's been on my list of 2013 goals to create.  Tonight seemed a perfect night to begin.  We had Chinese take-out for dinner and my fortune cookie said:

"Many opportunities are open to you, seek them out."

Sounds like a great place to start!

I have some general ideas about what I want to this to blog to be about:
  • I want to share stories and  pictures from my life that are funny, sweet or ironic.
  • I want to share my on-going quest to get my house to a state of clean all at the same time for at least 12.5 seconds (warning this is going to be a very long journey).
  • I want to share neat things I come across from other websites and blogs I read.
  • I also want to share a tip, a recipe or a product I love from my business of selling Pampered Chef.
I warn you, I don't know the first thing about blogging, I don't have a mega dollar camera or photography skills or a PhotoShop program and I have next to zero clever craft skills so this is going to look pretty amateur.  I'm excited to learn as I go along, have an outlet for my writing and make a few friends along the way.
Whoever you are, glad you are along for the ride!
